The practical questions

Before you press record.

Is this a voice recorder or a dictation tool?: It is the useful middle: a voice notebook built for text you plan to use. Record a thought wherever you are, get a clean faithful version, and find it in the same archive on your other devices.
Will it summarize or change what I meant?: No. Plainspoke removes filler, repairs punctuation, and turns spoken structure into readable text. It does not compress your thinking into a summary. Hedges such as “I think” and “maybe” are treated as meaning, not noise.
Can I see the original transcript?: Always. Every cleaned note keeps its verbatim original beside it, so you can inspect the cleanup, edit the result, or recover exactly what was transcribed.
Do I need to install an app?: No. It works in a browser on phones and computers, and you can add it to your phone's home screen for an app-like launch. There is also an open-source native Linux client with a global shortcut.
Is audio stored?: Audio is processed and discarded. Only the transcript is saved to your private account. Your notes are protected so other accounts cannot read them.
What counts as a minute?: Only audio you actually record, rounded to the second. Sessions are capped at 10 minutes so a forgotten microphone cannot quietly use your whole allowance.
